Have you ever wondered why cherry blossoms are so popular? Why is everyone so obsessed with them? Let me show you!
I have seen many photograph’s of these famous tree’s and I always thought they were beautiful but it’s not the same as seeing them bloom. This year is my first time being in Japan for the cherry blossom season and I was excited to see it for myself!
For those of you who don’t know, Sakura is the name for cherry blossom here in Japan. You pronounce it like this, s-ah-k-r-ah. Sakura only blooms once a year for about a week. The time that cherry blossom bloom changes from year to year. This year it was the last few day’s of March that the tree’s came to life! Japan has the most cherry blossom tree’s than any other country. There are over 200 kinds of cherry blossom tree’s. Japan has offered sakura tree’s to other countries as a sign of peace and friendship.
When the tree’s come into full bloom they make a gorgeous canopy to sit under and enjoy God’s creation. Hanami mean’s watching the flower. In Japan people have hanami parties. They have drink’s, eat food, sing song’s and enjoy time together while they sit under the tree’s.
The season of the cherry blossom comes sooner than the tree’s with lots of sakura drink’s, candies, soap’s, and all sorts of other fun thing’s to buy. Around this season is also when the new school year starts, the weather get’s warmer and the festivals start! Sakura is a time of new beginning to the Japanese. I have to say; it’s one beautiful new beginning! The short season is also a reminder that life is short and precious.
